The inspiration to make ‘Kalevala’, came from my participation in the symposium ‘New and Young’ in Turku, Finland. The Kalevala is a Finnish epic similar to those found in Greek mythology and is based on Finnish legends and sagas concerning the Gods and the Creation.
Materials: Bronze, sand-blasted image of an elk on glass, pine needles, and a recorder containing the sounds of the Finnish formula 1 racing driver Michael Hakkinen from the 1990s. Listening to the sounds of racing cars and looking at the elk causes a discordance between Nature and Culture / Culture and Nature.
Materials: Bronze, Memo machine, glass, pine needles
Size: 8 x 2,5 cm
